It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Warren, a Founding Trustee of The Knotty Coach Trust, whose passion, energy, and dedication helped shape our organisation from its very beginning.
Richard was a true driving force within the Trust, particularly when it came to the restoration and preservation of our rolling stock. His hands-on involvement and tireless enthusiasm brought new life to our historic carriages, leaving a tangible legacy that visitors to the Foxfield railway will appreciate for generations to come.
Known by all as a vibrant character, Richard had a unique warmth and spirit. He was always willing to roll up his sleeves, pitch in, and offer a helping hand—no matter how big or demanding the task.
Beyond his dedicated service to railway preservation, Richard led a remarkable professional life as a Major Trauma Surgeon, dedicating his career to saving lives and caring for others in their most critical moments. He was also a committed trade unionist, fiercely dedicated to fairness, solidarity, and advocating for the rights of his colleagues.
While we will deeply miss Richard’s presence, guidance, and camaraderie, his lasting legacy will continue through the work of the Trust.
